SULTAN Scores Big On Second Friday
Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’ opened in close to 4352 screens in India and 1100 screens overseas. Film has everything going for it, from release on Eid to massy dialogues to top star cast. And it lived upto all hype!
Film opened to almost 70% opening and it seems that it was going to run to capacity throughout the day. This was clear sign that film would challenge all time day one records for sure. But filmwas slower from afternoon onwards as Eid affected the collections in certain parts of country. Film collected 36.54 cr nett on day one. Film was 3rd behind 44.97 cr nett day one record of ‘Happy New Year’ and 41.75 cr nett of PRDP.
Film collected 3.04 million $ (20.5 cr) on day one in overseas which is fantastic considering mid-week release. Film collected highest ever opening day number in Pakistan (2.2 cr, 3.45 crPKR) and Gulf (1.4 million $). Film took outstanding start and it collected 37.32 cr nettas single screens were lot better than day one. Film was superb across the board on Friday too with tremendous trend. Film collected 31.67 cr nett which was awesome. Film reached new heights as it crossed 30 cr nett mark consecutively 4th day. Film collected 36.62 cr netton Saturday.
Film was super strong and collected 38.21 cr nett and thus added 30 cr plus on all five days, an unimaginable feat. Film was solid on Monday with just 50% drop from 1st day despite reduced ticket price. Sultan collected 15.54 cr nett on Monday which was super solid.
Sultan collected 12.92 cr nett on Tuesday followed by 11.10 cr nett on Wednesday, 10.82 cr nett on Wednesday and 9.52 cr nett on Thursday. Film collected 229.94 on extended weekend till thursday. Despite couple of new releases film managed very good numbers on second Friday, film added 7.40 cr nett which was a decent hold, film should managed 26 cr nett in second weekend and 45-50 cr nett in second week.
Film was solid throughout the week though there was drop on weekdays but then that was normal considering huge weekend.
Film has 10-day day total of 236.56 cr nett. Film crossed 305 cr domestic gross in 9-days and 410 cr worldwide gross. Film collected 13.7 million $ (91.93 cr) over 5 day extended weekend. Huge worldwide blockbuster!

GREAT GRAND MASTI Had A Poor Day One
This year proved disastrous for adult comedies as neither Sunny Leone worked (''''Mastizaade'''') nor sequel ''''Kya Super Kool Hain Hum 3''''). Now biggest adult comedy franchise in India ''''Masti'''' is back following stupendous success of its 2nd part three years back.
Film released yesterday with good number of prints all over India. Film was never expected to open great considering competition from ''''Sultan'''' and it was leaked online a week back. Film opened to only 20% across the board which is below par. Film is better in smaller centers and single screens but metro and multiplexes are poor.
Film collected 25 lakhs nett in Gujarat- Saurashtra and 70 lakhs nett in Mumbai circuit. Film managed very poor 2.5 cr nett all India. It needs to score massive jump over weekend in order to come with a decent total.

After all controversies and hiccups, finally ''Udta Punjab'' released yesterday. Film is multi starrer and has decent buzz all over due to controversies. Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are face of the film for youngsters and now its upto content to trend it well.
Film opened to good numbers on Friday. As expected, Delhi/UP and Punjab opened to superb numbers of around 55% occupancy. Mumbai, Bangalore and metros were good so overall occupancy was 35% plus. Film saw growth from evening onwards and that meant a very good day one for the film. Film was solid in Delhi and Punjab with 4 cr nett plus number and collected 10.05 cr nett on day one..
Film grew only marginally on 2nd day as masses kept distance due to mixed reactions and its only classes which made it happen. Film collected 11.25 cr nett. Film has 2-day total of 21.30 cr nett. Now challenge is to hold this in days to come.

Film has 1st weekend total of 3.74 cr nett. Film will collect 6 cr nett over week one and that means it will struggle to cross 8-10 cr nett lifetime.
Randeep Hooda has given some terrific performances and at the same time terrible performance at box office. This one will also flop like his earlier films i.e. ''Rang Rasiya'', ''Laal Rang'', ''Sarbjit'' and ''John Day''.
